Tata Sierra has been spotted testing multiple times news giving us a strong impression of what's to come. The Sierra EV will launch first towards the end of 2025, with the ICE variant following in early 2026.

Throwback Design

Unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year alongside e-Vitara, the near-production Tata Sierra stays true to its original concept with a boxy silhouette and a rugged, planted stance. Tata has been heavily testing the camouflaged units across India. The design is a modern reinterpretation of the classic, retaining the signature expansive glasshouse that wraps around the rear.

At the front, the SUV is expected to feature a full-width connected LED DRL strip, vertically stacked rectangular headlamps, a high bonnet line, and squared bumpers. The rear will likely sport a clamshell tailgate, a full-width LED light bar, and a dual-tone bumper.

Higher-tier Sierra trims could also feature flush door handles, petal-shaped alloy wheels, and cameras on the ORVMs for the 360-degree view system.

Inside, recent spy shots have confirmed that the Tata Sierra will be the first in its family to offer a XEV 9e like triple-screen setup, with dedicated screens for the digital driver’s display, central infotainment, and the front passenger.

The cabin could feature a new four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo and a touch-based HVAC panel inspired by the Curvv concept. The overall design is expected to be layered and horizontal, complemented by ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, a Head-Up Display (HUD), ventilated front seats, and connected car technology.

Engine and Battery Options

The ICE version of the Sierra, set to debut in early 2026, is expected to come with two engine choices: a 1.5L TGDi (turbo-petrol) engine and the 2.0L Kryotec turbo-diesel engine sourced from Fiat which is also used in the Harrier and Safari. Both engines will likely be offered with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Meanwhile, the electric variant will likely share its powertrain with the Harrier EV. It is expected to be offered with battery packs ranging from 60 kWh to 75 kWh, promising a range of over 500 km. While final specifications are yet to be confirmed, a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup is a strong possibility for the top-tier EV variants.

Safety features in the upcoming Sierra will be comprehensive, including a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, and various other active and passive safety functions.

Launch Timeline and Pricing

The ICE variant is expected to be based on the ALFA platform, while the EV will use the newer Gen 2 Acti.ev architecture. Spotted recently under heavy camouflage, the Sierra is positioned to compete with popular SUVs like the Hyundai Creta/Creta ELectric , Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara/e-Vitara, Honda Elevate, and Skoda Kushaq, Mahindra BE 6 and in house rivals like Curvv and Harrier EV.

While Tata hasn’t given a specific date, it has officially stated that the Sierra EV will launch towards the end of 2025, within the current financial year, followed by the ICE versions in early 2026. The ICE variant is expected to have a starting price of around ₹14-15 lakh.

The EV version will naturally carry a premium price tag, expected to begin from ₹18-19 lakh and potentially going up to ₹25-30 lakh for the fully-loaded lounge variant (all prices ex-showroom).
