VinFast will launch its VF6 and VF7 together in India next month.

Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is gearing up for its highly anticipated entry into the Indian market with the compact electric SUV, the VinFast VF6

Recently, the VF6 was spotted undergoing testing in Delhi NCR, offering a glimpse into its design and positioning as a strong contender in India’s burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) segment.

With its official unveiling at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year, a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, and a newly inaugurated dealership in Surat, Gujarat, VinFast is making significant strides to establish itself in India.

Spied in Delhi NCR: Design Details Revealed

The VinFast VF6 was seen navigating the roads of Delhi NCR under camouflage, but several distinctive design elements were evident. The SUV sports VinFast’s signature V-shaped LED DRLs, flowing from the logo at the center of the closed-off grille towards the bonnet lines on the sides, creating a sleek and futuristic aesthetic.

The front fascia features bumper-mounted headlamps accompanied by a smaller LED DRL strip, enhancing its road presence.

At the rear, the VF6 boasts sleek LED taillamps that extend from the sides of the logo, complemented by a secondary set of taillamps below, housing the turn indicators. A shark-fin antenna further accentuates its contemporary design. In one of the pics our photographer managed to take we can clearly see it alongs ide a full fat Scorpio N.

Compared to the Mahindra SUV it looks smaller but a lot more wider a with a powerful stance.

Notably, the test mule was seemingly equipped with 17-inch single-tone alloy wheels, in contrast to the dual-tone 18-inch alloys showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, suggesting that the spied vehicle could be a mid-level variant. The test mule also featured a rear windshield wiper, which cements this speculation.

The VinFast VF6 could be powered by the 59.6 kWh battery pack seen on its international models. It delivers a WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure) claimed range of up to 410 km on a single charge, making it a practical choice for urban commuters and families alike. Its 150 kW motor produces 204 bhp and 310 Nm of torque, achieving 100 km/h from standstill in 8.89 seconds.

Key features in the VF6 may include a panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a head-up display (HUD), and a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite with adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and lane change assist. Additional safety features could include six airbags as standard, ABS with EBD, ESC, rear parking assist, and a 360-degree surround view camera, with expectations of a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating.

Measuring 4,241 mm in length, 1,834 mm in width, and 1,580 mm in height, with a 2,730 mm wheelbase, the VF6 is slightly smaller than the Hyundai Creta Electric but marginally larger than the Mahindra XUV400

Manufacturing Facility and First Dealerships

VinFast has solidified its commitment to India with the inauguration of its first overseas manufacturing facility at Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, on August 4, 2025.

The 400-acre plant, representing a $500 million investment over five years, has an initial production capacity of 50,000 vehicles annually, scalable to 150,000 units. The facility will locally assemble the VF6 and VF7, ensuring competitive pricing through localization.

Following its manufacturing efforts, VinFast opened its first Indian dealership in Surat, Gujarat, on July 28, 2025. A flagship showroom in Chennai was inaugurated shortly after, cementing the company’s ambitious plan to establish 35 dealerships across 27 Indian cities by the end of 2025.

Despite being feature-rich, the VinFast VF6 is expected to be priced competitively in the compact electric SUV segment, with estimates ranging from ₹18 to ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the variant. This will position the VF6 as a direct rival to the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE.6, and BYD Atto 3. By leveraging local manufacturing, VinFast aims to keep the pricing very aggressive.

Pre-bookings for the VF6 and its larger sibling, the VF7, commenced on July 15, 2025. VinFast’s entry into India with these electric SUVs marks a pivotal moment in the country’s EV landscape.

The VF6’s stylish design, robust specifications, and competitive pricing, combined with VinFast’s strategic investments in manufacturing and dealerships, position it as a potential formidable player in the compact electric SUV segment.

As the Vietnamese EV maker prepares for its September 2025 launch, the VF6 is poised to attract buyers seeking a blend of premium features, sustainability, and value, setting a new benchmark for green mobility in India.
