Toyota Hilux Launched at Rs 31.99 Lakh, Gets First-Ever 4x2 and New 12.3-Inch Screen

Toyota India has launched the ninth-generation Hilux, with prices between Rs 31.99 lakh and Rs 36.69 lakh. The new Hilux brings its biggest overhaul yet, featuring a redesigned body, a completely new cabin, more features, and for the first time in India, a rear-wheel-drive 4x2 variant.

The 2.8-litre diesel engine carries over, now paired exclusively with a 6-speed automatic. Deliveries begin in the second week of August 2026.

What You Get With Each Hilux Variant

The 2026 Hilux comes in three variants: GX 4x2 AT, GX 4x4, and the range-topping VX 4x4 AT.

The GX 4x2 is the new entry point, trimmed with an 8-inch instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, and seven airbags. It skips the off-road hardware but gets a functional pickup body with the same 2.8-litre diesel.

The GX 4x4 adds Toyota's full off-road suite: low-range transfer case, electronic differential lock, downhill assist, terrain modes, and active traction control. It also gets 18-inch super chrome alloy wheels, LED headlamps with welcome function, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The VX 4x4 AT tops the range with powered and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, an 8-speaker audio system, a PM 2.5 air filter, and a wireless charger. It also gets rear armrests with cupholders and a larger glovebox with a retractable lid.

What Has Changed Over the Old Hilux

Compared to the outgoing Hilux, priced between Rs 28.52 lakh and Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom), the entry price has increased by Rs 3.47 lakh. In return, you get a more modern package.

The old Hilux had a single-screen cabin, fabric seats in the base trim, and a manual gearbox. The new model gets a twin-display layout, leatherette seats from the GX 4x4 onwards, and an automatic-only lineup with a new 4x2 variant.

The exterior has also been redesigned with slim LED headlamps, a honeycomb grille, TOYOTA lettering at the front and rear, vertically stacked LED tail-lamps, and a bumper with an integrated step.

Compared to the global model, the India-spec Hilux misses out on ADAS, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster in the base trim, and dual-zone climate control in lower variants. Instead, the GX 4x2 gets a 7-inch instrument display and manual air conditioning.
