Skoda India has confirmed that the Kylaq will receive a new Sportline variant in September 2026, adding a sportier look to the SUV that has transformed the brand's fortunes in India. Since its launch, the Kylaq has emerged as Skoda's best-selling model, contributing more than 45,000 units in 2025 alone and accounting for over 60 percent of the brand's annual sales.
The compact SUV played a major role in helping Skoda record its best-ever year in India, with sales jumping to 72,665 units in 2025, more than double the 35,166 units sold in 2024. It also helped the company achieve a record quarterly sales performance of 20,028 units in Q1 2026.
Confirming the new variant to Autocar India, Skoda India Brand Director Ashish Gupta said,
"Skoda is doing something with styling elements to give the Kylaq a sporty touch, which will be with the Sportline version coming in September."
The Sportline trim is expected to feature blacked-out exterior elements, dark-finished alloy wheels, black badges, a black roof and a sportier cabin theme. Mechanically, it is expected to retain the existing 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 115hp and 178Nm, paired with manual and automatic gearbox options.
Gupta also revealed that a more powerful 1.5-litre TSI version is under consideration, although its feasibility is still being evaluated.
“customers would like to have a 1.5L TSI for the Kylaq, so it's under consideration, but whether it's possible or not and whether the investment is justified remains to be seen.”
