Mahindra has added a 6-seater configuration to the XEV 9S, replacing the second-row bench with individual captain seats. The option is available on Pack Two Above, Pack Three, and Pack Three Above variants, with prices starting at Rs 25.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The base Pack Two trim stays with seven seats as before.
The captain seat configuration costs Rs 25,000 over the equivalent 7-seater variant in each trim.
| Variant | Price (ex-showroom) |
|---|---|
| Pack Two Above 70kWh | ₹25.25 lakh |
| Pack Two Above 79kWh | ₹26.15 lakh |
| Pack Three 70kWh | ₹28.05 lakh |
| Pack Three Above 79kWh | ₹30.15 lakh |

What the Second Row Actually Gets
The captain seats sit around a centre console with dedicated armrests and cupholders. Each seat also gets its own AC vent and USB charging port, which is a meaningful step up in second-row comfort for this price range.
No changes have been made to features or the powertrain, and the rest of the car remains as-is, featuring triple-screen setup, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, and a 360-degree camera.
Battery options are 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. The 79 kWh pack claims a range of 679 km and produces 281 bhp and 380 Nm.

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is the only other car in this price bracket with second-row captain seats, though it is an MPV rather than an SUV. Buyers looking specifically for this layout in a larger, SUV-proportioned electric vehicle now have the XEV 9S as the sole option.
