Kia Announces Syros Flex-Fuel Concept, Engineered to Run on E100

Alongside the Sorento HEV and Carnival HEV launches today, Kia also put a concept on stage, the Syros FFV, a flex-fuel version of its sub-4-metre SUV. The concept is engineered to run on any ethanol blend from E0 to E100, covering pure petrol at one end and near-pure ethanol at the other.

No production timeline or pricing was announced. This is a concept, not a launch.

What It Is

The Syros FFV Concept is built on the same body as the production Syros, which is already on sale in India from around Rs 8.42 lakh. The exterior shown on stage carries a rugged, upright look with prominent squared-off wheel arches, a boxy roofline, chunky body cladding, and green-accented brake callipers, visual cues used to signal its alternative-fuel identity.

Beyond the E0-E100 capability shown on the presentation slide, no powertrain specifications or output figures were shared at the event.

Still a Concept

It is worth being clear about what today's showing was and was not. Kia showed a concept on a stage at the launch event of the Sorento, it did not announce a launch, a price, or a production date.

Whether this reaches showrooms depends on how the FFV regulatory and infrastructure landscape develops in India over the next few years.

Given that E85 pumps are still being rolled out in limited numbers, a production FFV Syros is some way off even in the most optimistic scenario.
