Kia Carens and Carens Clavis CNG Variants To Launch Soon

Kia India is preparing to launch factory-fitted CNG variants of the Carens and Carens Clavis MPVs.

The company has already revealed the key specifications for both models, marking its official entry into the factory CNG segment.

The CNG variants will use the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a factory-fitted kit. In CNG mode, the engine produces 93 hp and 123 Nm of torque. This is lower than the petrol version’s output. A 60-litre CNG tank will be placed in the boot.

Earlier, the Carens was available only with a dealer-fitted CNG kit. The new factory-fitted setup is expected to offer better integration, reliability and warranty support.

Kia has retuned the suspension and upgraded the front disc brakes to handle the extra weight of the tank. Importantly, the spare wheel is retained and remains under the car.

Prices for the CNG variants have not been announced yet and are likely to be revealed in the coming weeks.

The move comes as demand for CNG vehicles continues to grow in India due to lower running costs. This addition of factory CNG options strengthen the Carens and Carens Clavis's appeal against rivals like the Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Rumion.

Kia has indicated that the CNG versions will go on sale soon, giving buyers a more affordable and efficient powertrain choice in the midsize MPV segment.
