The Carens by Kia occupies a rather unusual spot in the Indian market. It costs about the same as premium MPVs like the XL6, yet offers the space and practicality of vehicles from a segment above.
For many families, it ends up being the middle ground between budget people movers such as the Ertiga and far more expensive options like the Innova.
If you've already read our XL6 variant explained guide and are wondering how the Carens stacks up, this article breaks down the Premium (O) 7 variant in detail, covering exactly what you get and who it makes the most sense for.
Kia Carens Prices And Variants Summary
The 2025 Carens has been drastically simplified as Kia India has discontinued all higher trims: Prestige, Prestige (O), Gravity, Luxury Plus, X-Line, leaving the Carens in a single variant: Premium (O) 7, available with either the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (G1.5) or the 1.5-litre diesel (D1.5), both paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Prices start at ₹11.01 lakh for the petrol and ₹12.87 lakh for the diesel (ex-showroom), making it one of the most feature-complete entries into the 7-seater space under ₹13 lakh.
Kia has essentially stripped the Carens down to its most value-dense configuration, positioning it as the no-compromise entry point before buyers step up to the more expensive Carens Clavis for seeking sunroofs, alloy wheels, and more premium amenities.
So, there are no trim choices to agonize over, just an engine decision.

Carens Premium (O) 7 Model

Who Should Buy The Kia Carens Premium (O) 7 Model?
This variant exists for one specific buyer, someone who needs a 7-seat family MPV under ₹13 lakh and refuses to compromise on structural safety, cabin space, or real-world technology. It delivers all three without demanding a premium trim premium.
Safety wise, Global NCAP gave it 3-star adult and 5-star child ratings, while the car features 6 airbags, ESC, VSM, HAC, DBC, all-wheel disc brakes, and highline TPMS, a combination that rivals in this price band either partially or entirely omit.
Inside, the car features 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 12.5-inch LCD instrument cluster, 5 USB-C ports, and 6-speaker audio system. Also, the 2,780 mm wheelbase means third-row adults don't feel like stowaways, and the 2nd-row one-touch electric tumble makes 3rd-row access a non-event in daily use.
What the Premium (O) doesn't get is a sunroof, automatic climate control, alloy wheels, ventilated seats, push-button start, and cruise control. The manual AC can feel inadequate when all seven seats are occupied in peak summer, and the steel wheels, while covered, are a visible concession at this price.
Lastly, the petrol suits urban families who cover moderate monthly distances and want to minimise fuel costs further with ISG.
Whereas, the diesel makes a compelling case for anyone covering 1,500+ km a month or using the Carens as a primary inter-city vehicle, where the torque advantage and running cost differential more than offset the ₹1.86 lakh premium over petrol.
What features does Kia Carens Premium (O) 7 model have?
The Premium (O) 7 packs in 6 airbags, an 8-inch touchscreen, a 12.5-inch digital cluster, rear AC vents, a reverse camera, among others.
