Hero XPulse 210 Review

Engine, Performance and Mileage
At the heart of the Xpulse 210 is a liquid-cooled, 210cc DOHC motor borrowed from the Karizma XMR, tuned for adventure duty. It makes 24.6 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 20.7 Nm at 7,250 rpm and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch. The engine pulls well in the low and mid-range, which is essential when crawling over rocks or mud. It’s capable of cruising comfortably at 85-95 kmph on highways, with a top speed near 120 kmph.
However, vibes start creeping in past 7,000 rpm, especially at the bars and pegs. Mileage is commendable for the segment—expect around 38-40 kmpl in mixed riding, though pushing it hard off-road or on highways will drop that figure slightly. With a 13-litre tank, range anxiety won’t be a concern unless you’re deep in the wilderness.
Handling and Ride Quality
Off the tarmac, the Xpulse 210 comes into its element. It rides on a semi-double-cradle frame, with 41mm telescopic front forks offering 210 mm travel and a 10-step adjustable rear monoshock with 205 mm travel. The setup feels well-damped for moderate off-roading, soaking up ruts and bumps without bottoming out.
The 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels wrapped in Eurogrip dual-purpose rubber provide confidence on gravel and light trails. However, the tube-type tires remain a drawback in remote areas, where puncture repair becomes a pain. Braking performance is sharp, with 276 mm front and 220 mm rear discs and dual-channel ABS offering three riding modes—Road, Off-road, and Trail. The Road mode is ideal for city rides, while Trail and Off-road modes disable or reduce rear ABS for loose surfaces. Though stable and composed, the added weight over the 200 means it takes a bit more muscle on tight, gnarly paths.
Design
The Hero Xpulse 210 embraces its Dakar-inspired DNA with purposeful design tweaks that hint at serious trail potential. The new sculpted 13-litre tank looks muscular, and the flanking tank shrouds give it a more aggressive stance. You get a classic ADV-style beak fender up front, a beefy sump guard, and a functional high-mounted grab rail under the headlamp for pulling the bike out of ditches or tricky terrain.
The all-LED lighting includes a projector setup with an H-shaped DRL and twin vertical LED tail lamps. Available in Wild Red, Glacier White, Azure Blue, and Alpine Silver, it manages to look premium and rugged. A 4.2-inch TFT screen on the top-spec variant supports Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation, and vehicle diagnostics. However, minor issues like visible weld joints and uneven panel gaps still hold it back from a fully polished finish.
competition
With a price range of ₹1.76 to ₹1.86 lakh (ex-showroom), the Hero Xpulse 210 slots itself as an accessible entry into the adventure segment. Its primary rivals include the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250, Yezdi Adventure, and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
The V-Strom SX’s 26 bhp output and refined highway manners give it an edge for touring, but it’s priced higher and lacks off-road intent. The Yezdi Adventure is the most hardcore in terms of suspension travel and raw performance (29.8 bhp), but it still suffers from inconsistent refinement. The Himalayan 450, meanwhile, is the premium pick with a 40 bhp motor and proper long-distance chops, but its ₹2.85 lakh price tag places it in another league. In comparison, the Xpulse 210 offers a sweet spot for riders looking to break into ADV riding with enough tech and capability without blowing the budget.
final verdict
The Hero Xpulse 210 is more than just an update—it’s a proper evolution of what was already a popular beginner ADV. With a much more capable engine, longer suspension travel, selectable ABS modes, and updated styling, it finally feels like a motorcycle that can do justice to both off-road trails and occasional highway rides.
It still has its quirks—the vibrations, the tube tires, and some rough-around-the-edges build quality—but for the price, there’s little that matches its value, especially for riders looking to develop their off-road skills. If you want a versatile machine that’s adventure-ready right out of the showroom, the Xpulse 210 is easy to recommend.
