overview

The Aprilia SR 175 is live in showrooms, replacing the SR 160 without hesitation. Deliveries are starting after a July 2025 rollout, with an official price starting around ₹1.26 lakh (ex-showroom) and climbing to ₹1.33 lakh in select regions. It aims to seduce riders who want more than utility who want character, flair, and performance in everyday movement. It shows up where many scooters tone it down, and that is precisely its point.

Engine, Performance and Mileage

This is where the upgrade matters. The SR 175 steps up to a 174.7 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that delivers around 13 bhp at 7,200 rpm and 14 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm noticeably more punch over the older 160’s 11 bhp and 13–13.5 Nm.

Paired to a CVT gearbox, it pulls better in the city and feels more confident on open stretches. Aprilia claims a top speed of about 95 km/h. We expect it to ride same as the outgoing 160 CC variant with a strong punchy middle enough to handle day to day traffic with ease .

Mileage

Early figures show real-world mileage between 35 km/l in city conditions and up to 42 km/l on steady open roads. That puts it in a respectable zone for a 175 cc performance scooter, even if it lags behind ultra-efficient commuters. But given its engine and performance profile, that’s acceptable trade-off for many.

posture comfort

Underneath the sporty sheen, the SR 175 sticks with a solid mechanical base: 14-inch alloy wheels with 120-section tubeless tyres, a 220 mm front disc paired with a rear drum brake, and single-channel ABS.

Under-seat space is just enough for daily essentials, maybe a half-face helmet, but not generous. Ergonomics favor the rider more than the pillion, who might find longer hauls less comfy. This isn’t a commuter cruiser you know its calling from the first twist of the throttle.

Design

On the outside, the SR 175 maintains the razor-sharp silhouette of the SR 160 V-shaped front apron, aggressive body panels, split seat, upswept exhaust but Aprilia gives it new life with two bold RS-457-inspired liveries: Matte Prismatic Dark with red highlights, and Glossy Tech White that gleams in sunlight. It still rocks LED lighting, but the revised graphics make it look sharper rather than showy. It stands out, sure; but it does it with style, not flash.

competition

At ₹1.26 lakh, the SR 175 edges onto the turf of the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Hero Xoom 160 both strong performers with established goodwill. The Aerox has a fun, maxi-scooter personality and more engine refinement. The Xoom leans on its connected tech and practical ergonomics. The SR 175 bets on European styling, a punchy engine, and premium features to stand apart. It is not the most comfortable nor the most practical, but it lets you make a statement wherever you go and therein lies its charm.
