Design and Size

The T40 brings a more traditional Bonneville look to Triumph's 350cc range, with a teardrop tank, round LED headlight, spoked wheels, twin rear shocks, rubber tank knee pads and a peashooter exhaust. Selected paint schemes also get hand-painted coach lines.
The T40 Black uses the same design with a darker finish, including blacked-out engine casings and components, black aluminium rims and a brown seat. It is not a higher-spec version, with both T40 versions costing the same.
Seat height is 790 mm, or 770 mm with the accessory low seat, while wet weight is 195 kg. The 14.5-litre tank, standard centre stand and 16,000 km or 12-month service interval add to its everyday usability.
Features and Equipment

The T40's main advantage over the T4 is its electronics package. It gets a 4-inch round TFT with Heritage Mode, full-map navigation, five riding modes, cruise control, cornering ABS and cornering traction control.
Meanwhile, the T4 gets a colour LCD, turn-by-turn navigation, three riding modes and dual-channel ABS.
| Feature | T40 and T40 Black | T4 |
|---|---|---|
| Display and navigation | 4-inch round TFT with Heritage Mode and full map navigation | Colour LCD with phone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation |
| Modes, aids and cruise | Five riding modes, cornering ABS, cornering traction control and cruise control | Three riding modes and dual-channel ABS, with no cruise control |

Engine and Performance
All three use the liquid-cooled 350 cc TR Series single, making 29 PS and 31.2 Nm through a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.
The T40 and T40 Black get a revised cylinder head and Bonneville-specific tune aimed at stronger low-rev response.
Triumph has also revised the idle speed and firing character to give the engine a more traditional Bonneville feel.
Prices and Variants
The T40 and T40 Black cost the same, with the main difference being their styling and finishes. The T40 Black gets black rims, powder-coated engine casings, other blacked-out components and a brown seat.
