Pricing Slash Strategy of Bajaj
The Bajaj Freedom 125 was introduced in three models—Drum, Drum LED, and Disc LED. However, there have been some price adjustments since its launch. Last year in December, Bajaj reduced prices up to Rs 10,000 to tackle affordability issues. It reduced the pricing of the lowest Drum variant to Rs 89,997, the Drum LED variant to Rs 95,002, while the highest-spec Disc LED variant was left untouched at Rs 1.10 lakh.
In a new attempt to drive demand, Bajaj has again repriced the Freedom 125, cutting prices by as much as Rs 5,000. The Drum variant of the Freedom 125 now begins at Rs 85,976 (ex-showroom), the Drum LED is available for Rs 95,981, and the Disc LED at Rs 1.11 lakh, maintaining the focus squarely on offering value in the eco-commuter space.
New Pricing Strategy or Fear of Loss of Sales?
Bajaj's regular price reductions on the Freedom 125 may be driven by two possible reasons. One, the firm may be exploiting economies of scale and localization, which reduce the cost of components. Or two, it may be experiencing a decline in monthly sales, which is causing price adjustments to regenerate customer interest.
Misinformation regarding the safety of utilizing CNG in a motorcycle and the sparsity of CNG fueling stations in many states may be helping to stifle the demand. Nevertheless, the Freedom 125 remains a wise compromise between conventional ICE motorcycles and complete EVs, providing cleaner emissions and reduced operating expenses without the range anxiety.
