JSW MG Motor India has created a new Guinness World Record with its upcoming flagship SUV, the MG Majestor.

The vehicle successfully pulled a 406.4-tonne train over a distance of more than 300 feet on a railway track, becoming the heaviest train ever hauled by an SUV on rail.

The record attempt took place on March 31, 2026, on a secured section of the operational railway track between Kakapora and Awantipora stations in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Majestor exceeded the Guinness World Records requirements of 400 tonnes and 100 feet, setting a new global benchmark.

The entire exercise was monitored by independent experts, with full verification that the SUV alone provided the power, without any external assistance or modifications.

The MG Majestor used for this feat was a completely stock production model.

The Majestor is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that delivers 215 hp and 478 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and three locking differentials for superior traction.

This record comes just ahead of the Majestor's official launch in India on April 20.

Similar Feats Achieved By Other Carmakers

This feat by MG joins a tradition of carmakers showcasing the raw power of their SUVs through similar high-profile stunts.

In 2017, the Tata Hexa successfully pulled a 42-tonne Boeing 737 passenger aircraft at a Delhi airstrip to highlight its towing capacity.

More recently, in February 2025, the Tata Curvv Coupe SUV pulled a 48-tonne Boeing 737 aircraft for over 110 metres in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Majestor is expected to position itself as a strong contender in the premium SUV segment, rivalling the popular Toyota Fortuner.
