What's The Deal With Jaguar These Days?
Jaguar has undergone somewhat of a transformation recently. A few days ago they revealed their new logo and did away with their petrol car business in its entirety. Jaguar has decided to reinvent itself as a youth-focused all-EV brand and has pinned all their hopes on this Type 00 (Zero Zero) Concept.
Its traditional business model wasn’t doing that well to become with and was facing extremely tough competition from carmakers like VW, Audi Mercedes, and BMW who with their massive resources were refreshing their lineup with all-EV or hybrid setups.
Jaguar, usually associated with unreliability and “old rich guy” type of vehicles was heavily dependent on its sedan and coupe business, with only a couple of SUVs in its portfolio. The lattermost as you know is what everybody wants these days.
A combination of these trifecta led to a downfall in revenue, necessitating drastic measures to survive in an ever-so-cut-throat automotive industry.
So Jaguar has only a couple of options on the table. It was either going all-electric or selling their marque to some Chinese giant. The lattermost is what its parent company Tata Motors wanted to avoid at all costs.
Type 00 Design
We have forged a fearlessly creative new character for Jaguar that is true to the DNA of the brand but future facing, relevant and one that really stands out.
Rawdon Glover-Managing Director, Jaguar

Any gearhead worth a 1 rupee coin will know that Jaguar products from XE to the top-of-the-line F-Type SVR are simply drop-dead gorgeous. Curvy, sculpted, and cohesive car styling has been embedded in their DNA since the days of Malcolm Sayer penned D-Type and XKSS.
The Type 00 flips its middle finger to all that you read above and is a giant slab composed of minimalistic and imposing proportions. No matter how hard you try, its resemblance with Rolls Royce’s Spectre is uncanny. Looks like the designer spent way too much time in RR’s Parking Lot.

The long hood and fastback roofline give it a sleek, elongated look, while the pronounced edge and clear-cut hard angles, and 23-inch wheels lend to its already imposing persona. Jaguar has debuted the 00 concept in two colors. Satin Rhodon Rose AKA Miami Pink and Inception Silver Blue dubbed London Blue.
The side profile is a proud nod to the legendary XKE coupe, the only classic Jag I could make out in Type 00’s design. You’ll notice the absence of a rear window, with the fenders curving into a large rectangular panel at the drop-tail-styled back.
The rear has a giant radiator glued to the back, at least in my opinion. Jag calls this a “Strikethrough” design. A couple of obligatory lightbars are placed on top and bottom, how else would you know this is an EV?
Type 00 Interior

The interior of the 00s is exactly what you would expect. Devoid of any unnecessary distractions and covered in vintage-looking brass and wool blend. It is very awesome looking and exactly what you would expect from a Jaguar rolling in the streets a couple of years from now.
A spacious, segmented interior with sleek brass bars running from door to door and a dramatic 10.5-foot central spine two large screens are tucked away to allow for a “digital detox,” and when stowed, a thin display at the base of the windshield.
The dashboard has a cool mini vertical line going through its length which breaks the largesse of the interior and adds an appreciable amount of character. Something that its trendy squircle-shaped steering also manages to do quite well.
They have also used “Chiaroscuro”, a technique that highlights the contrast between lights and shadows to create the 00 interior's Nordic-style vibe.

The concept also introduces the idea of "totems"—brass, travertine (natural stone), and alabaster (a kind of soft rock) pieces that can be inserted into the central console to change the car’s lighting, sounds, and even scents.
The Type 00 concept isn’t just a design exercise, it will either make or break Jaguar, depending on what follows in 2026, when they will introduce their first fleet of all-electric adorned based on a bespoke architecture with the Majestic Leaper logo.
Not much is known about the powertrain except that future Jaguar EVs will be built on Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) and target a range of up to 770km WLTP. While adding 21km of charge in as little as 15 minutes
