Royal Enfield has confirmed the launch of the Himalayan 440 on September 4, 2026, which will mark ten years since the original Himalayan 411 first launched. RE is seemingly bringing back its spirit on the exact anniversary, a fitting gesture given how fondly that bike is remembered.
Developed internally under the codename D4G, Himalayan 440 is set to share the same foundation as the Scram 440. It should use the 443cc, air and oil-cooled LS440 single-cylinder engine producing 25.4 bhp and 34 Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox.
The extra gear over the 411's five-speed should make highway stretches more relaxed, which was a common ask from long-distance riders on the older bike.

What to Expect Over the Scram 440
The most notable difference over the Scram is likely to be the wheel setup. While the Scram runs a 19-inch front wheel suited to road use, the Himalayan 440 is set to return to a 21-inch front on tubed wire-spoke rims, closer to what the 411 had. Front suspension travel is also likely to increase to around 200mm, up from 190mm on the Scram, which should help on rougher terrain.
The 440 is also set to skip the Himalayan 450's more advanced kit. Features like a TFT display, USD fork, and ride-by-wire are unlikely to make it to this bike, with the 440 seemingly aimed at buyers who want something simpler and more familiar in character than the 450.

Expected Price and Rivals
With the Scram 440 currently starting at Rs 2.25 lakh and the Himalayan 450 from Rs 3.08 lakh, the 440 is expected to sit around Rs 2.50 lakh ex-showroom, though Royal Enfield is yet to confirm pricing officially.
At that price, its closest competition would be the Yezdi Adventure and the Suzuki V-Strom SX, neither of which matches it on displacement, which could work in the 440's favour.
