VinFast VF MPV 7 Overview

The VinFast VF MPV 7 gets a front-wheel-drive powertrain producing 201 hp and 280 Nm of torque. It offers Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes, along with four levels of regenerative braking, for flexible city and highway conditions.

It uses a 60.13 kWh usable battery and claims a range of 517 km, while DC fast charging is rated at up to 80 kW, with a 10% to 70% charge time of about 30 minutes.

On the outside, it has a clean, modern design with LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, front and rear signature V lighting, LED taillamps and black alloy wheels.

Inside, it focuses on practicality, with leatherette upholstery, automatic climate control, PM 2.5 air filtration, vents for the second and third rows, and a 25.65 cm infotainment screen with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Overall, the VF MPV 7 is positioned as a practical, range-focused electric people mover with family-friendly seating, comfort features and a useful feature set for everyday travel.

Battery and Motor

The VF MPV 7 is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor that draws energy from a 60.13 kWh usable battery pack with a CCS2 charge port. It produces 201 hp and 280 Nm of torque and drives the front wheels.

Performance-wise, acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes under 10 seconds, reaching a governed top speed of 140 km/h.

Also, three drive modes - Eco, Normal and Sport, alter throttle response, and include regenerative braking that provides four levels - Off, Low, Medium and High.

Range and Charging

The VF MPV 7 returns an ARAI-certified range of 517 km on the MIDC Part 1 + Part 2 cycle.

For rapid top-ups, VinFast claims 80 kW DC fast charging takes the battery from 10 to 70% in approximately 30 minutes.

For daily use, AC charging supports up to 6.9 kW, and a 3.5 kW portable charger is included as standard with the vehicle.

interior

Inside the VF MPV 7, the dashboard follows a flat, minimalistic design that places most controls on the central screen. Driver information appears directly on this 25.65 cm touchscreen instead of a separate instrument cluster, and the same screen runs wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Just ahead, the D-cut steering wheel is wrapped in leatherette, carries multi-function buttons, and adjusts for tilt and telescopic reach.

Seating uses leatherette upholstery across all seven positions, with adjustable headrests fitted in every row. The driver seat offers 6-way manual adjustment, while the second row splits 60:40, slides, reclines and tumbles with one-touch operation. In the back, the third row splits 50:50 and reclines.

For comfort, automatic climate control feeds dedicated vents to the second and third rows along with PM 2.5 filtration. Additionally, a Camp Mode is available, allowing the cabin HVAC to remain operational while the vehicle is stationary.

Convenience features include power windows with one-touch operation and anti-pinch protection on all doors. Also, storage options include two 12V ports, two USB Type-A, and two USB Type-C sockets.

Finally, boot space measures 126 litres with all seats upright, expanding to 606 litres when the third row folds flat, and 1240 litres with the second row down.

exterior

The VF MPV 7’s overall proportions of 4740 mm length, 1872 mm width, 1734 mm height and 2840 mm wheel base emphasise cabin volume and practicality with 185 mm ground clearance.

At the front, it gets LED projector headlamps integrated with a signature V-shaped light bar, LED daytime running lights, and automatic headlamp activation. These headlamps also include a follow-me-home function.

The side body gets clean, unadorned surfacing with an upright stance, riding on 19-inch black alloy wheels shod with 235/50 R19 tyres, while power-adjustable, auto-folding mirrors carry LED side turn indicators.

At the rear, connected LED tail-lamps repeat the signature V light element, while a roof spoiler and wrap-around design finish the body.

safety

The VF MPV 7 is equipped with ABS, EBD, brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, hill start assist, roll-over mitigation, and an emergency signal system. An integrated dynamic brake system is also fitted as standard.

For occupant protection, 4 airbags protect front occupants, and seatbelt pretensioners are fitted to the front row with reminders for all seats.

Daily driving and security are supported by additional equipment that includes rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, second-row ISOFIX child-seat anchors, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, speed-sensitive auto door locking, an immobiliser, and a theft alarm.

Regarding crash tests, no independent rating from Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP is available for this model yet.

competition

The VF MPV 7 competes with the Kia Carens Clavis EV and BYD eMax 7 in its segment.

The Carens Clavis EV provides two battery options (42 kWh and 51.4 kWh), allowing buyers to select between a lower entry point with 404 km range or the larger pack delivering up to 490 km ARAI-certified range. Conversely, the VF MPV 7 sticks to a single 60.13 kWh unit and counters with greater overall dimensions, measuring 190 mm longer, 72 mm wider and 60 mm longer in wheelbase than the Kia, which translates to more cabin room particularly in the third row and a larger 19-inch wheel setup versus the Kia's 17-inch alloys.

The eMax 7 offers a larger maximum battery capacity of 71.8 kWh in its top variant with higher peak torque of 310 Nm compared with the VF MPV 7's 280 Nm, though its 530 km claimed range is on the NEDC cycle rather than the MIDC standard used for the VF MPV 7's 517 km figure, making a direct range comparison unreliable. The BYD eMax 7 also supports faster DC charging, peaking at 115 kW against the VF MPV 7's 80 kW.
