The MG IM5 is a large, flagship electric sedan developed by IM Motors, a joint venture between SAIC and Alibaba, and sold in China, where it positioned as a direct rival to premium EV sedans. It was showcased in India at the Bharat Mobility 2025 expo, but MG India has not confirmed a production launch.

Internationally, the IM5 is offered with battery options of 75kWh, 83kWh, and 100kWh, in both single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD configurations. The top AWD setup produces up to 579PS and does 0-100kmph in approximately 2 seconds on the flagship version.

The cabin is the centrepiece, a 26.3-inch ultra-wide main touchscreen spans the dashboard, alongside a 15.5-inch passenger display and a 10.5-inch climate control screen. It also gets a yoke steering wheel, ventilated and electrically adjustable seats, 256-colour ambient lighting, and a 21-speaker sound system.

If launched in India, it is expected to arrive as a CBU import, with industry estimates placing it well above the Rs 55 lakh mark. A potential arrival is not expected before January 2028, if at all.
