The BMW 5 Series was a popular sedan in India. This model sold well until January 2024. It came with petrol and diesel engines like the 530i and 520d. The car started at a price of 65.38 lakh rupees. The company stopped selling the BMW 5 Series to launch a new generation model soon. This car provided a smooth ride and many safety features for all owners.

Engine and Performance

The BMW 5 Series offered several engine options for different types of drivers. The petrol version used a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. This engine produced 252 hp and 350 Nm of torque. For those who preferred diesel, the car offered a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that made 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque. There was also a more powerful 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine available. This larger engine produced 265 hp and 620 Nm of torque, which helped the car reach high speeds quickly. All versions of this model used a smooth 8-speed automatic gearbox. The power was sent to the rear wheels for better control. These engines were designed to be both fast and efficient for city driving and highway trips. This model provided a strong performance that many owners liked before it was replaced by the new generation.

interior

The BMW 5 Series offers a clean and spacious cabin for five people. Inside the car, you get a large 12.3-inch digital display for the driver. There is another 12.3-inch touchscreen in the center for music and navigation. This model uses leather on the seats and dashboard to provide a nice finish. You will find four-zone climate control to set different temperatures for each passenger. It includes a 16-speaker sound system from Harman Kardon for clear music. The car features a large electric sunroof that makes the cabin feel open. For storage, it provides 530 liters of boot space to carry big bags. The 5 Series also has 11 different ambient lighting colors to change the mood inside. Rear passengers get enough legroom and soft headrests for long journeys. This interior focuses on keeping all passengers comfortable during city or highway drives.

exterior

The BMW 5 Series has a long and sporty design. This model features a wide kidney grille at the front. The car uses sharp LED headlights with blue accents in some versions. You can see two L-shaped daytime running lights inside the main lamps. The M Sport trim comes with larger 18-inch or 19-inch wheels and sporty bumpers. The Luxury Line version has more chrome on the outside for a shiny look. This car is about 4.9 meters long and has a very smooth roofline. At the back, it has thin 3D LED lights and two exhaust pipes. The door handles sit flat against the body for a clean finish. This model came in many colors like white, black, and blue. It looks very fast even when it is parked. The paint quality is high and gives a nice shine.

competition

The BMW 5 Series had several strong competitors in the Indian market. Its main rival was the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which many buyers liked for its extra rear seat space. The Audi A6 was another big competitor that offered a very modern cabin. People also compared this model with the Volvo S90 and the Jaguar XF. All these cars were priced in a similar bracket, usually starting above 60 lakh rupees. While the BMW 5 Series was known for its engine and driving feel, the others focused on comfort or safety. This model had to fight with at least 4 other major brands to win customers. Even though this version is now discontinued, many of its rivals are still available for sale. Choosing between these 5 cars was a common task for most buyers looking for a large sedan during those years.
