The Tata Sierra has secured a perfect 5-star safety rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests.

While the tests were conducted on the Accomplished+ and Adventure+ diesel variants, the results are applicable across all variants, irrespective of the powertrain.

The Sierra earned 31.14 out of 32 possible points in adult occupant protection.

It performed strongly in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, scoring 15.14 out of 16 points. The driver dummy received good protection to the head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet, with adequate protection to the chest and tibiae.

The front passenger dummy showed good protection across most critical areas, though the right tibia was rated adequate.

In the side impact tests, the Sierra delivered good protection to key body regions for both driver and passenger in the side movable deformable barrier test. The side pole impact also received an overall ‘OK’ rating, confirming solid structural integrity.

Child occupant protection scored an excellent 44.73 out of 49 points.

The dynamic test portion achieved 23.73 out of 24 points, while child restraint system installation earned a full 12 out of 12. The vehicle assessment added 9 out of 13 points.

Crash tests using 18-month-old and three-year-old child dummies (seated in rearward-facing restraints) delivered near-perfect results.

In frontal impacts, the 18-month-old dummy scored 7.73 out of 8, and the three-year-old scored 8 out of 8. Both dummies received full marks in side impacts.

Tata Sierra Safety Features

Tata Sierra Crash Test

The Sierra includes a comprehensive safety package as standard across all variants. This covers six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, traction control, all-wheel disc brakes, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear parking sensors, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.

Higher variants add further protection with a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, an auto-dimming IRVM, and Level 2 ADAS systems.

With this 5-star rating, the Sierra joins other top-rated Tata models such as the Altroz, Nexon, Curvv, Harrier, and Safari.
