With the recent launch of the Volkswagen Golf GTI in India, Skoda is all set to rival its corporate cousin with the planned launch of the famed Octavia RS in 2025. It was already showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo this year, and finally, the enthusiasts and fans can rejoice.
Seeing demand from fans and enthusiasts in India, the brand director for Skoda in India said,
“The Octavia RS is something that we will definitely bring to India this year.”
We assume that the upcoming festive period will be apt for the launch of the Octavia RS, and till that time the VW would have tested the waters with the Golf GTI, helping them to chart a strategy for the future of the Octavia RS and maybe a spicier Slavia. The older Skoda Octavia RS 230 was launched at a steep price of Rs 24.62 lakh in 2017.
Despite the price, all the allocated units for India were sold out in a short time.
Again in 2020, Skoda brought in the more powerful Octavia RS 245 at a higher price tag of Rs 36 lakh, making it significantly expensive than the 2017 model.
The Octavia RS 245 was all imported and sold in limited numbers in India. Seeing demand and success with both these models, Skoda gauged the timing and planned the launch of the fourth-generation Octavia RS in India.
Estimated Pricing
Just like the previous iterations, this one will be a CBU as well, attracting high taxes, and will be sold in limited numbers only. Considering that VW launched the GTI at an ex-showroom price of Rs 53 lakh, we can safely assume that the Octavia RS will be sold at a similar price, easily breaching the Rs 50 lakh mark.
What’s Under The Hood Of The 2025 Skoda Octavia RS?
With improvements in performance with each iteration, the latest generation Skoda RS could come with the same 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI engine, making a max power of about 265 PS and a massive 370 Nm of torque. The transmission duties will be carried out by a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Skoda claims a 0-100 kmph time of 6.4 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. Because the Golf GTI is doing a 0-100 kmph sprint in 5.9 seconds, it’s believable that the new Octavia RS will do the same, with 0.5 seconds more time, courtesy of being 61 kg heavier than the Golf GTI.
