Mahindra is gearing up to expand its electric range with the XEV 9S - a promising 7-seater SUV that could serve as the electric version of the XUV700. As of now, Mahindra has only revealed its name and minor design details through a teaser. Set on Mahindra's INGLO platform, the XEV 9S is set for a global premiere on November 27, 2025, at the Scream Electric event in Bengaluru.

Mahindra XEV 9S Design
The XEV 9S, which was named the XUV e8 in its concept form, could echo the XUV700's silhouette with EV-specific design tweaks, including a closed grille for better airflow, a wide LED light bar up front, and slim LED headlights similar to those on the XEV 9E.
The side profile could feature flush door handles, gloss black body cladding, and aero-focused alloy wheels. At the rear, connected LED taillamps and a refreshed bumper are expected.
It is likely to feature a similar dashboard to the 9E, with the triple 12.3-inch screens - one for driving info, a middle unit for entertainment, and another for the co-driver. A 2-spoke wheel with Mahindra’s glowing EV Logo should add flair. Features like a wide panoramic sunroof, dual or tri-zone air conditioning, and electrically adjustable seats could make it ideal for long drives.
The XEV 9S is set to be Mahindra's flagship 7-seater EV, and just like the XUV700, could be offered in a 6-seater configuration as well. Boot space could be identical to the XUV700’s.

Mahindra XEV 9S Battery and Range
While Mahindra has not revealed any details on battery pack options, we expect the XEV 9S to share them with its siblings - the BE 6 and XEV 9E. These could include a 59kWh battery producing about 228 bhp, with 380Nm of torque, with a claimed range of 542km (around 400 km in real-world driving conditions), and a larger 79kWh pack producing 282 bhp with a range of 656km (real-world range around 500 km).
The drivetrain will most likely be Rear Wheel Drive, but a dual-motor setup with an all-wheel drive option cannot be ruled out. The INGLO platform supports fast charging, as proven on the BE 6 and XEV 9E, with a 20-80% charge taking just 20 minutes through DC fast charging, for the 79kWh battery pack.

Mahindra XEV 9S Launch and Pricing
Mahindra’s November 27 event should bring more details about the XEV 9S, with booking potentially starting soon after. Production at Mahindra’s Chakan facility might begin in December 2025, with sales likely to commence by March 2026.
Expected to be the flagship model from Mahindra’s Electric SUV lineup, the XEV 9S could be priced between ₹25-35 lakh, ex-showroom. This pricing would position it against the upcoming Tata Safari EV, which is also expected to launch in 2026.
