For the Indian market, safety is becoming one of the most essential decision-makers when buying a car. Tata with its 5 star rated cars has capitalized fun safety factor alone for a long time. This time, with three of its latest offerings, Mahindra has just strengthened its grip on having a super-safe lineup of cars in 2024.
Bharat NCAP, i.e., BNCAP, has just released the crash test report of the Mahindra Thar ROXX, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and its electric counterpart, the XUV 400 EV. All of these SUVs have earned a 5-Star Safety Rating from the Government-aided testing agency.
Here is a quick look at the report-
| Model Name | Adult Safety Rating | Child Safety Rating |
| Mahindra Thar ROXX | 31.09 / 32.00 (5 Star) | 45.00 / 49.00 (5 Star) |
| Mahindra XUV 3XO | 29.36 / 32.00 (5 Star) | 43.00 / 49.00 (5 Star) |
| Mahindra XUV 400 EV | 30.38 / 32.00 (5 Star) | 43.00 / 49.00 (5 Star) |

Mahindra Thar ROXX becomes the first ever ladder-on-frame SUV to earn a 5-Star Safety Rating in the BNCAP tests. Moreover, the XUV 400 EV becomes the second EV to score a 5-Star Rating in BNCAP.
Safe Doesn’t Always Mean Expensive
The Indian car market is constantly getting safer cars as the days pass. Even these three cars belong to three very different segments. The Mahindra Thar ROXX is a proper off-road-worthy SUV that starts at Rs. 12.99 Lakhs and goes up to Rs. 22.49 Lakhs.

In contrast, the new Mahindra XUV 3XO comes at a base price of Rs. 7.79 Lakhs and goes to 15.49 Lakhs ex-showroom. The XUV 400 is a proper EV, so it belongs to a totally different segment.

Overall, Mahindra has created a portfolio of safe cars for almost all the segments in which they excel. Even if you have a budget of under ten lakhs, you will get to choose a safe car from their lineup.
Better Cars For India
Surprisingly, though, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire has earned a 5-Star Safety Rating from the Global NCAP very recently. Plus, they haven’t increased the pricing of the new Dzire as much as one would expect.
So it will be exciting to see how brands like Mahindra keep up with the most prominent automotive giant in India when safety does not act as a bias anymore.
