Mahindra seems to be pretty confident about the XEV 9e’s safety as they have just conducted a live frontal crash test showcasing its safety.
It was done in front of several media personalities & creators, and by the looks of it, the car stands out as having a very stable structure. After hitting the barrier at 64 km/h, the cabin was intact, the dummies seemed to be unaffected, and all 7 airbags also deployed on time.

In the words of R Velusamy, President of Automotive Technology & Product Development,
“From our internal crash tests, we are confident to achieve 5 stars for both adult occupant protection and child occupant protection.”
Mahindra has also showcased three different battery tests besides the crash test. One was the Nail Penetration test on the battery pack; the results were quite positive. It showed no sign of fire or anything that could lead to catastrophic damage.
Mahinda ran an insane 22-ton truck over the battery pack without any structural damage whatsoever.
Lastly, Mahindra executives showcased a video exposing the battery pack directly to the fire, but there was no sign of damage to the setup.

So overall, according to Mahindra’s own tests, the XEV 9e and the BE 6e models are pretty safe. Now, we have to wait for the BNCAP or GNCAP test reports to check out the actual performance ratings of the SUVs.
Overall, it’s amazing that a brand is doing all of these tests themselves before it is launched, and the whole world can check it anytime on the internet.
Now, only time & real-life events will show how valid these tests are. So stay tuned to www.carhp.in for more updates on the Mahindra BE 6e & XEV 9e.
