  • What do you think about Vinfast’s move towards the cab industry with a completely company based ecosystem?

Recently, I attended Vinfast’s taxi initiative, Green Smart Mobility’s driver hiring conference and here’s everything you need to know about how Vinfast as a brand is coming up with a first-in-india cab service that will also serve as a sales tool for their cars.

But before we begin, what is Green Smart Mobility(GSM)?

Green Smart Mobility is Vin group’s Taxi service initiative that has been running in 4 countries right now, including Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and Laos. In 2026, India is going to be the fifth market Vin group will introduce the GSM cab services in, starting with the capital region, Delhi NCR.

However, Green Smart Mobility uses only Vinfast cars, for India, it will be using the Vinfast Limo Green which is basically a less-feature-rich version of the VF MPV7 that was launched recently at a starting price of ₹24.49 lakhs.

Vinfast is planning to do a rollout of about 1,000 units of the Limo Green models in the first phase, which will be available for booking in Delhi NCR 24x7.

Will Green Smart Mobility be similar to Ola, Uber or Rapido?

Not exactly, however, you can think of it to be very similar to startups like BluSmart, but the customer base will be a slight bit more premium as the minimum charges with a Green SM cab will be around ₹350 to ₹400 (about 2x the price of Uber XL).

On the other hand, while most startups are still acting as a startup, and BluSmart, once the most favored cab service, has vanished from the market due to its financial irregularities, VIN group is bringing in investments worth hundreds of crores, all by themselves!

Why bring a taxi service with thousands of cars in a completely new country for the brand?

According to previous interviews and articles from Autocar India, Vin Group executives believe every GSM cab out there is a sales tool for Vinfast cars, they train their drivers accordingly so that they can help customers understand the car, and with every ride, customers receive a first hand cabin experience.

How is the Vinfast Limo Green as a premium cab?

Vinfast’s Limo Green is based on their recently launched MPV, the VF MPV7 which starts at a price tag of ₹24.49 lakhs. However, the Limo Green doesn’t get as many gimmicky features as the VF MPV7. Elements like a set of 19 inch alloy wheels are missing, and instead you get 18 inch steel wheels with covers. Apart from that, the steering wheel doesn’t get any buttons on it, and all the controls are inside the screen.

In terms of safety, the Limo Green will come with a dashcam and a cabin camera that will record the whole trip making every trip safer and more transparent. Apart from that, the dash camera also helps detect objects and humans in front of the road, helping out the driver in case of emergency.

Moreover, in case your Green SM cab gets into a major accident or breaks down in the middle of an active trip, GSM will arrange another Green Smart Mobility vehicle to drop you at your desired destination.

Even if there are no GSM cabs available around the location, GSM drivers are trained to book a taxi from another cab service, to help you reach your destination with the least amount of delay.

How can one join Green SM as a driver?

Green SM hires drivers as partners, and as of now one has to hold a driving license of at least one year old, and needs to deposit a total of ₹20,000, of which the driver has to invest ₹5,000 initially, and the rest ₹15,000 will be charged with a rate of ₹150 per day for the next 100 days.

By submitting a set of documents like PCC, Driving License, Aadhar Card, PAN Card and bank account details, once can be eligible for the driver’s training and assessments.
