In June 18, Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways - Nitin Gadkari announced a FasTag based annual pass for private vehicle owners.This announcement comes following talks last month about the Government working on new policies to make highway travel easier and pocket-friendly.

Priced at Rs 3000, the pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation, or 200 trips, whichever limit is hit first. This flat-rate pass is a boon, as it allows multiple trips annually while saving costs.

No. Existing FasTag users do not have to worry about showing additional documents or account changes, and can switch to the annual pass through their current accounts. The existing FasTag will be valid provided it is properly fixed on the vehicle’s windshield, is linked to a valid Vehicle Registration Number, and is not blacklisted.
