Volvo XC40 Overview

The Volvo XC40 was a compact five-seat luxury SUV designed around practical proportions and Volvo's understated styling. Its upright shape, high ground clearance and distinctive Thor's Hammer headlights were paired with a cabin featuring a portrait touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, powered seats and Harman Kardon audio.
The final India-spec XC40 B4 used a 2.0-litre four-cylinder mild-hybrid petrol engine producing 197 bhp and 300 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive. It could accelerate from 0-100 kmph in a claimed 8.44 seconds.
Volvo equipped it with a strong safety package including adaptive cruise control, Pilot Assist, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert.
The XC40 was officially discontinued in India in November 2023 as Volvo shifted its focus towards electrified models.
The XC40 Recharge continued as the electric alternative before newer EVs joined the range.
