engine and performance

The petrol version of the GranCabrio is powered by the 3.0-litre twin-turbo Nettuno V6 engine. This engine uses a pre-chamber combustion system derived from Formula 1 technology, where ignition begins in a separate chamber before spreading into the main cylinder. This improves efficiency and power delivery. The engine produces 542 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. Power delivery is strong across the rev range, with a performance-focused exhaust note. The electric GranCabrio Folgore uses three electric motors and an 800-volt system, producing 818 horsepower. This setup provides instant torque and rapid acceleration while maintaining balanced weight distribution.

interior

The cabin of the GranCabrio focuses on modern digital interfaces combined with premium materials. Most physical buttons have been replaced by screens, including a 12.3-inch central infotainment display and an 8.8-inch secondary screen used for climate and comfort controls. The traditional analogue clock has been replaced with a digital unit that can display multiple functions such as time, compass direction, or performance data. The seats are designed for long-distance comfort and are upholstered in leather or sustainable materials in the electric version. A standard neck-warming system directs warm air around the headrest area, allowing comfortable open-top driving in cooler weather. An optional Sonus Faber audio system includes 19 speakers and delivers high sound clarity even when driving with the roof down at highway speeds.

exterior

The exterior design of the GranCabrio is defined by its clean surfaces and aerodynamic shaping. A key feature is the “Cofango”, which is a single aluminium panel that combines the bonnet and front fenders into one piece. This reduces panel gaps at the front and improves both aesthetics and airflow. The large surface area gives the car a smooth and continuous appearance. Maserati chose a fabric soft-top roof instead of a folding metal hardtop to reduce weight and preserve the natural shape of the rear body. The roof can open or close in 14 seconds at speeds of up to 31 mph. Vertical LED headlights, inspired by the MC20 supercar, give the front a modern appearance, while the triple air vents on the front fenders reference Maserati’s historical design elements.

safety

The GranCabrio is equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems designed to support the driver during everyday and long-distance driving. These systems include adaptive cruise control with lane centering, which helps reduce fatigue on highways. Structural reinforcement has been added to compensate for the lack of a fixed roof, using high-strength steel and magnesium components to maintain rigidity. In the event of a rollover, an active protection system deploys concealed roll bars to protect occupants. A 360-degree camera system improves visibility in tight spaces, while active rear braking assist helps prevent low-speed collisions during parking and maneuvering.

competition

The Maserati GranCabrio competes in a segment defined more by brand character than by performance figures alone. The Bentley Continental GTC offers greater emphasis on luxury and comfort, while the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet prioritises outright performance but offers less rear-seat usability. The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 provides strong power but places greater reliance on digital systems and shares interior elements with lower models. The GranCabrio positions itself as a balance between these approaches, offering genuine four-seat usability, strong performance, and distinctive Italian design, making it one of the few convertibles in this class that combines everyday practicality with a high level of emotional appeal.
