The Compass Trailhawk was a special off-road version of the Jeep SUV in India. Jeep India removed this model from its website in 2023. This happened because the car did not meet the new BS6 Phase 2 emission rules and safety norms. It featured a 2.0-litre diesel engine with a 4x4 system. Now, buyers can only find this model in the used car market.

Engine and Performance

The Compass Trailhawk came with a 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine. This engine produced 170 hp and 350 Nm of torque. It was paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The gearbox helped the car change gears smoothly in different conditions. This model featured a special 4x4 system designed for tough tracks. It included a low-range mode to help the car climb steep areas easily. The car also offered various driving modes like Auto, Snow, Sand, and Mud. These settings helped the driver maintain control on slippery roads. This model was built to meet the BS6 emission standards in India. It delivered a mileage of nearly 15 kmpl on the highway. Owners liked the engine because it was strong for both city drives and long mountain trips. The Compass Trailhawk was a good vehicle for people who loved driving on bad roads.

interior

The Compass Trailhawk had a cabin designed for rough use. Inside, the car featured an all-black theme with bright red stitching on the seats and dashboard. This model came with a large 10.1-inch touchscreen system that supported both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Drivers also got a 10.25-inch digital display for speed and other information. For comfort, the car offered dual-zone climate control, meaning the driver and passenger could set different temperatures. It also had a big panoramic sunroof that let in plenty of light. The front seats were ventilated to keep passengers cool in hot weather. Safety features inside included 6 airbags and a 360-degree camera to help with parking in tight spots. The leather seats in this model had the special Trailhawk name stitched on them. Everything was built to look tough and handle dirt or dust during off-road trips.

exterior

The Compass Trailhawk was designed to look different from the standard model. This car featured a black hood decal that stopped sunlight from hitting the driver's eyes. It had a signature 7-slot front grille with a dark finish. The bumpers had a new shape to help the car climb steep hills without hitting the ground. This model came with 17-inch alloy wheels and high-profile tyres for better grip. The ground clearance was raised to 205mm to clear big rocks and deep holes. You could see a red hook on the back for pulling the car out of mud. It had LED headlamps and a dual-tone black roof as standard. These changes made this model easy to spot on the road. The design focused on being useful for people who liked driving on rough paths and dirt tracks every day.

competition

The Compass Trailhawk was a specific SUV in the Indian market. It competed with other 5-seater models like the Hyundai Tucson and the Volkswagen Tiguan. These rivals offered powerful engines and many comfort options. The Citroen C5 Aircross was another competitor in the same price range. While the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari were larger, their top variants also challenged the Compass Trailhawk. This model was different because of its 4x4 system and a 2.0-liter diesel engine. It used a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Most of these rivals were priced between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 40 lakh. While other cars focused on cabin space, this car was built for driving on bad roads. It faced strong competition from these brands until Jeep stopped selling it in 2023. These rivals continue to sell in India while this model has been removed from the showrooms.
