Engine and Performance
The Honda Jazz came with two engine options for buyers in India. The 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine produced 90 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. This engine was very smooth and worked with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic. Many people liked the CVT for city driving. There was also a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. This motor produced 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. It was famous for giving very good fuel mileage on long trips. The diesel model used a 6-speed manual gearbox. Later, Honda stopped the diesel engine and sold the car only with the petrol engine to meet new BS6 rules. The petrol motor was known for being quiet and reliable for many years. This model provided a steady performance for daily use without any major mechanical issues.

The Honda Jazz faced several strong rivals in the Indian market. Its biggest competitor was the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. This car sold in very high numbers. Another major rival was the Hyundai i20. People liked the i20 for its modern look and many features. The Toyota Glanza also competed with it because it was based on the Baleno. Later, the Tata Altroz joined this list. The Altroz was known for its high safety rating of 5 stars. Most of these rivals were priced between 6 lakh and 12 lakh rupees. These cars offered more engine options like turbo petrol and diesel. Some even had better fuel efficiency. While this model had a lot of space inside, these other cars became more popular with Indian buyers. This competition eventually led to low sales for the car before it stopped selling in 2023.
