The Punto was renowned for its solid build quality, excellent ride and handling characteristics, and a robust MultiJet diesel engine. It was often chosen by driving enthusiasts and those who prioritized a European driving feel over outright features or interior flashiness.

As a used purchase, the Fiat Punto appeals to individuals seeking an affordable hatchback with strong highway manners and a comfortable ride. Its primary strengths lie in its chassis, suspension, and the reliable diesel powertrain. However, significant challenges exist. Fiat's reduced presence and eventual exit from India mean spare part availability and service support can be problematic, potentially leading to higher maintenance costs and longer repair times.
