The Ferrari 488 was a powerful 2-seater sports car sold in India. It arrived in 2016 with a price of Rs. 3.68 Crore. This model had a strong V8 engine and 2 variants. The company stopped selling the car in 2019 because of new safety rules. The car gave a mileage of 8.77 kmpl. It

The Ferrari 488 launched in early 2016 and was a mid-engine two-seat sports car, sold as GTB coupe and Spider convertible. Its design featured a wide stance, sculpted side air intakes and Ferrari’s signature aerodynamic detailing, while the cabin focused on a driver-oriented layout with a digital instrument cluster, central infotainment display and premium sports seats.

Power came from a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 producing around 660 bhp and 760 Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and rear-wheel drive. The GTB could accelerate from 0-100 kmph in about 3 seconds, with a top speed above 330 kmph.

Electronic aids included Ferrari’s Side Slip Control, F1-Trac, E-Diff and adaptive suspension.

The 488 was discontinued after being replaced by the F8 Tributo.

Engine and Performance

The Ferrari 488 was powered by a very strong 3.9-litre V8 petrol engine. This engine used two turbochargers to produce a large amount of power and speed. The car was known for its quick acceleration and loud exhaust sound. For the special Pista version, the company used their most powerful V8 engine ever made at that time. This model offered a fuel mileage of about 8.77 kmpl, which was decent for such a fast vehicle. The engine was paired with an automatic gearbox for smooth and fast gear changes. Since the engine was placed in the middle of the car, the weight was balanced well for better control at high speeds. This engine setup made the car a top choice for driving enthusiasts in India. This model delivered great performance on both city roads and race tracks before it was discontinued in 2019.

interior

The Ferrari 488 featured a cabin built for 2 people. It was a fast sports car, so the inside felt like a cockpit. The layout focused mostly on the driver. Most buttons and controls were placed on the steering wheel itself. This allowed the driver to keep their hands in 1 place while driving at high speeds. This model did not have a big central screen like many regular cars today. Instead, there were small digital screens near the main dial to show important information. The seats were very firm and kept the passengers in place during fast turns. The car used leather and strong metal across the dashboard. There was very little space to keep bags or personal items inside the cabin. Overall, the interior was simple but very sporty. It felt like sitting in a race car rather than a regular car.

exterior

The Ferrari 488 had a very low and wide body that sat close to the ground. This car had a sharp front look with slim LED headlights and a big bumper. There were large air intakes on the sides to keep the engine cool. These vents also helped the car move through the air easily. This model was a 2-seater coupe with 2 doors. At the back, it had 2 round tail lights and 2 big exhaust pipes in the middle. The special Pista version had a deep hole in the front hood to help with speed. The car came with big 20-inch wheels that looked very sporty. Every part of the design was made to make the car fast and stable. The overall look was very strong and matched its high speed perfectly.

competition

The Ferrari 488 faced tough competition in the Indian sports car market. Its main rival was the Lamborghini Huracan, which many buyers liked for its sharp looks. Another major competitor was the McLaren 720S, which offered high speed and a similar price. These cars usually cost between 3 crore and 4 crore rupees. Some buyers also compared the car with the Porsche 911 Turbo S. While this model used a strong V8 engine, some rivals offered different engine types. The Audi R8 was also a competitor before it left the market. The car had to fight hard for sales against these fast machines. Most rivals had similar features and high prices. Even with so many options, the car was a top choice for people who wanted a famous Italian brand. It offered a mix of speed and 8.77 kmpl mileage.
