Volkswagen’s new electric hatchbacks, the ID Polo and ID Polo GTI, have been leaked online just ahead of their official reveal.
The standard ID Polo appears in simple, clean lines. The leaked images show a yellow base version and a grey mid-spec model with a horizontal light bar across the nose, black mirror caps and neat alloy wheels.
The sportier ID Polo GTI, shown in bright red, stands out with a bold GTI badge, honeycomb grille inserts, red accents and the largest wheels of the trio.
Both versions draw styling hints from Volkswagen’s ID.2 and ID. GTI concepts.

The ID Polo sits on the advanced MEB+ platform, and uses a single front-wheel-drive electric motor across all variants.
The 37 kWh battery powers entry-level models with 85 kW (116 hp) or 99 kW (135 hp). Both deliver 290 Nm of torque.
The larger 52 kWh battery offers 155 kW (211 hp) in the mid-range ID Polo or 166 kW (226 hp) in the ID Polo GTI, also with 290 Nm of torque.
The bigger battery promises up to 450 km of range on the WLTP cycle, while the smaller pack is expected to deliver around 300 km.

Fast charging up to 130 kW is also expected on the bigger battery pack.

Volkswagen plans to reveal the ID Polo and ID Polo GTI in Europe later this year.
Prices are likely to start around €25,000 (nearly ₹27.20 lakh), making them affordable entry-level electric cars alongside the petrol Polo.

Although the Polo is no longer sold in India, our fast-growing electric vehicle market and Volkswagen’s plans to expand its EV range to more markets could pave the way for these models in the future.
A launch by 2027 could be possible, either through imports or local assembly.
