Exterior Design
The MG Majestor dominates with its massive proportions and aggressive styling, measuring 5046 mm in length, 2016 mm in width, 1876 mm in height, and a 2950 mm wheelbase. This makes it substantially larger than the Toyota Fortuner, which stands at 4795 mm long, 1855 mm wide, 1835 mm tall, with a 2745 mm wheelbase.
The Majestor's extended overhangs, bold chrome grille, sleek LED headlights with sequential indicators, wide fenders, and roof rails contribute to a commanding, premium stance on 19 or 20 inch alloys. Its higher ground clearance around 210 to 220 mm expected and muscular cladding enhance its rugged appeal.

The Toyota Fortuner counters with a refined, evolutionary design featuring sharp bi LED projector headlights, LED fog lamps, chrome garnished grille, and 18 inch alloy wheels. It has a ground clearance of approximately 225 mm unladen in some variants, approach angle of 29 degrees, departure angle of 25 degrees, and a ramp over angle suited for tough terrain.
The Fortuner's athletic lines, high bonnet, and integrated rear spoiler give it a balanced, tough yet elegant look that is instantly recognizable. While the Majestor overwhelms with sheer size for superior presence and stability, the Fortuner offers a more agile footprint better suited for urban maneuverability and proven real world durability.
Interior and Infotainment
The MG Majestor's cabin is a luxurious haven with premium leatherette or quilted leather upholstery, soft touch dashboards, 64 color ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and powered and ventilated seats across rows including captain seats in second row for some variants.
It offers generous space thanks to the long wheelbase, with excellent third row legroom and headroom in 6 or 7 seater layouts, plus features like 3 zone climate control, powered tailgate, and multiple USB ports.
The Toyota Fortuner provides a practical, durable interior with leather seats, ventilated front seats in top trims, dual zone climate control, and decent space for seven, though third row access and comfort are more cramped compared to larger rivals. Higher variants get an 11.6 inch touchscreen in recent updates, JBL audio in some international models while India typically gets 6 to 8 speakers, wireless charging, and connected tech via Toyota i Connect.

Material quality is robust with hard plastics in lower areas for longevity. The Majestor excels in opulence and family friendly space with modern touches like a larger 12.3 inch infotainment screen and advanced connectivity, appealing to those seeking luxury.
The Fortuner prioritizes functionality, reliability, and easier maintenance, with its cabin holding up well over high mileage, ideal for buyers valuing Toyota's proven ergonomics and resale friendly simplicity over flashy features.
Engine

The MG Majestor packs a 2.0 litre twin turbo diesel engine producing approximately 219 to 220 PS and 478 to 480 Nm of torque, paired with an 8 speed automatic transmission and 4WD. This setup delivers smooth, responsive performance with strong mid range pull, aided by twin turbos for minimal lag.
The Toyota Fortuner features a tried and tested 2.8 litre single turbo diesel 1GD FTV outputting 204 PS and 500 Nm in automatic variants and 420 Nm in manual, available with 6 speed manual or automatic and optional 4x2 or 4x4. Some 2026 models may include mild hybrid assistance for better efficiency. It also offers a 2.7 litre petrol variant producing 166 PS and 245 Nm.
The engine is renowned for its torque delivery, fuel efficiency around 12 to 15 kmpl, and ability to handle heavy loads or towing up to 3 tonnes in certain configurations
For diesel loyalists in India, the Fortuner's engine remains a benchmark for durability, though the Majestor's modern tech could close the gap in drivability and potential efficiency.
Off Road Capability

Off road capability is the Majestor's strongest suit, featuring the M HUB 4X4 system with smart modes 2H, 4H, 4L, a segment first triple differential lock front, center, rear, 10 terrain modes Rock, Sand, Mud, Snow and others, M Crawl low speed cruise control, and 810 mm water wading depth. Built on a ladder frame chassis with independent double wishbone front and multi link rear suspension, it promises exceptional articulation and traction control.
The Toyota Fortuner is an off road icon with part time 4WD, low range transfer case, rear differential lock in 4x4 variants, Active Traction Control A TRAC, Downhill Assist Control, Hill Assist, and excellent angles approach 29 degrees, departure 25 degrees. Its 225 mm ground clearance and robust chassis have proven themselves in expeditions, with simple mechanicals easy to repair in remote areas.
The Fortuner's analog simplicity and real world toughness backed by decades of reliability in India make it unbeatable for long haul adventures where breakdowns are costly.
However, the Majestor's advanced electronics, triple locks, and crawl function offer superior technical capability in extreme scenarios like deep ruts or steep climbs, potentially outperforming in controlled off roading. For enthusiasts, the Majestor brings innovation that could challenge the Fortuner's crown, while traditionalists will stick with Toyota's no nonsense prowess.
Safety
Both SUVs prioritize safety on body on frame construction, but the MG Majestor advances with Level 2 ADAS including adaptive cruise, lane keep, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, 6 to 7 airbags, 360 degree camera, TPMS, and electronic stability program.
The Toyota Fortuner equips up to 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill assist, downhill assist, ISOFIX, and rear parking sensors and camera. Higher trims may add limited driver aids, with Toyota's reputation for strong crash performance. Majestor's comprehensive ADAS suite provides better preventive safety for highway and urban driving, ideal for families in traffic heavy India.
The Fortuner relies on passive strengths and proven structural integrity, often preferred for its simplicity and lower electronic failure risk in off road abuse. Overall, the Majestor leads in modern tech, while the Fortuner offers dependable basics trusted over generations.

The MG Majestor launches at around Rs 40 to 50 lakh ex showroom estimated, with bookings open for ₹41,000 and deliveries in May 2026
including perks like extended warranty. iw will be offerd in 4 trims Sharp 4×2, Savvy 4×2 and Sharp 4×4, with both 6-seat and 7-seat configurations.
