Hyundai has officially confirmed the India launch of its flagship three-row SUV, the Palisade, which will arrive in 2028. The SUV will be positioned at the top of Hyundai’s India line-up and is part of the brand’s massive 26-product expansion by 2030. While the Bayon will target the compact SUV space, the Palisade is aimed at the premium segment and will offer only a hybrid powertrain in India.
Hybrid power and range
The India-spec Palisade will be powered by a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol hybrid engine delivering a combined 334 hp and 460 Nm. The setup is paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and a standard front-wheel drive layout, though an all-wheel drive version will also be offered. Claimed fuel efficiency stands at 14.1 kpl with a total range of 1,015km.
Hyundai says the hybrid tech boosts efficiency by 45 percent, power by 19 percent, and torque by 9 percent over the non-hybrid 2.5-litre unit. Overseas markets also get a 3.5-litre V6, but this won’t be offered in India.
Improved Comfort and Control
The Palisade hybrid features Hyundai’s ‘e-Comfort Drive’ and ‘e-Dynamic Drive’ systems. These advanced tech aids improve ride comfort and handling using electronic controls. Features like e-DTVC, e-EHA, and e-Handling enhance grip, reduce understeer, and dynamically adjust torque while cornering, making for a composed and stable drive.
Drive modes include Eco, Sport, and My Drive, while terrain modes include Mud, Snow, and Sand.
Range Rover-Inspired Design
The latest-gen Palisade, revealed globally in December 2024, features squared-off styling with vertical LED lighting, a wide grille, and bold 21-inch alloy wheels. Silver accents on the cladding, D-pillars, and roof rails add a premium touch that closely echoes Range Rover aesthetics.
Luxury-Focused Interior
Inside, the Palisade offers a three-row layout with seating for up to eight. Buyers can also opt for second-row captain chairs with reclining and footrest functions. The dual 12.3-inch screens serve as the infotainment and digital instrument cluster, paired with a three-spoke steering wheel.
The centre console features physical buttons, a large storage bay, and a fingerprint sensor that can start the car and enable valet mode.
Other key features include a panoramic sunroof, 14-speaker Bose system, 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated seats, digital key, built-in dashcam, ADAS suite, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability.
Expected Price in India
Thanks to Hyundai’s plans to localise the Palisade, pricing is expected in the Rs 40-50 lakh (ex-showroom) range. For reference, the SUV starts at $36,800 (approx. Rs 31.60 lakh) in the US. Hyundai also aims to export India-built units to other markets starting from 2028.
