Citroen Basalt X Comfort Edition Launched at Rs 8.75 Lakh

To celebrate its 108th anniversary, Citroen India has launched the Basalt X Comfort Edition, with an ex-showroom price beginning at Rs 8.75 lakh.

That's a Rs 20,000 premium over the standard 'You' variant, which starts at Rs 8.55 lakh.

Comfort Edition Focuses On Premium Value

The Basalt is the second Citroen model to get the Comfort Edition treatment, after the Aircross. Rather than adding power, it bundles Citroen's 'Comfort AXS' packs, which can be found on the standard 'You' and intermediate 'Plus' trims of the Basalt.

Depending on the variant, the comfort package adds beige leatherette seat coverings, a 10.25-inch Android-based touchscreen, wireless phone charging, a JBL audio system, dual dash cams with safety alert predictions, and a rear-view camera.

Engine and Transmission

The Comfort Edition carries over the standard Basalt's engines. The base 'You' trim of the Basalt features an 82 hp, 115 Nm, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The 'Plus' steps up to a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol making 110 hp, paired with either a 6-speed manual (190 Nm torque) or a 6-speed automatic (205 Nm).

Price And Rivals

At a price of Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom), the Basalt's closest rival is the Tata Curvv. It also competes with mid-size SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Renault Duster, Nissan Tekton etc.
